Our story
Justin Davis started Medellín Tours in 2023 as a social impact tour company, so that tours benefit the neighborhoods they visit.
"TripAdvisor and the big tour companies take about a 20% cut of ticket sales. I decided that money should stay in the neighborhood," Justin says. "Our goal is to offer the ultimate private tour experience in Medellín, and to make an impact while we do it."
Justin lives in Medellín. He runs the company with his co-founder, Dr. Rocio Vargas Forero.
Our social impact: Sembradores de Amor
Sembradores de Amor is a foundation in Comuna 13, founded by Marlly. It feeds 80 kids and 35 elderly people every day.
Our Comuna 13, city and Guatapé tour guides come from the foundation. They guide in their own neighborhood and throughout Medellín and Guatapé. In Justin's words: "We overpay our guides because we know the extra money goes towards feeding people in need."
That is how our Comuna 13, city and Guatapé tours directly support the foundation. Our coffee, Hacienda Nápoles, rafting and private driver/van services do not. On the coffee tour, the farm's own family guides you. On the Comuna 13 tour you visit the foundation and meet Marlly.
Our guides
Our guides come from Sembradores de Amor in Comuna 13 and lead our tours in Comuna 13, around Medellín and in Guatapé. Our drivers work in tourism vehicles and speak Spanish.
What we offer
- Tours: Comuna 13 tour, One-day Medellín city tour, Guatapé tour, coffee farm tour, rafting day trip, transport to Hacienda Nápoles.
- Transportation: private car and driver, airport transfers, van rental with driver, baby seat rental.
How we work
- Private only: your tour or vehicle is just for your group.
- Book and pay online, by card or PayPal. No cancellations or refunds; you can reschedule with at least 7 days' notice.
- Electronic invoices (factura electrónica) are available, for example for corporate groups.
- We don't do weddings.
